Defacing a book

It is either strangely appropriate or incredibly WRONG that I am cutting a book in half on the eve of beginning a bookbinding course. Weight and space being of utmost importance, I decided that there is no point in carrying on the last half of "Pillars of the Earth". Bought a used copy at the Farmers Market this morning. I am almost finished "Eat, Pray, Love" so will need something to read while traveling.

Back to packing (and hacking at a perfectly good book). More from Italy! :-) Oh, for those of you that don't know: I'm off to do a semester in Florence at the SRISA (google it) in book arts, Italian and other art courses. Breathe.....
Note: Gorgeous journal cover handmade by mon amie Nicole. xo

PS. Both halves got left behind due to space issues!

Getting into the spirit of it. Almost packed...well, not really. Drinking some Italian wine to help and it does! 2 sleeps.

She & He @ Queen Eliz

4 sleeps

4 sleeps until flight to Firenze.  Day one of new FIRST ever blog.  I don't know what I'm doing, nor do I have the time now to figure it out!  But if I don't start it now...will I have the time in Italy?!

No, I'm not packed; no, i'm not ready.  Yes, I'm excited.  All a bit surreal still.  Hope I can get photos posted easily.  I'm not a writer!

laundry, organize, sort.

Novembre!!! Arte.

Charcoal drawing.

Memory Game - each student created two lino-cut images for a memory game.

Hardcover books with long stitch binding.

I know I have to have some ART content but I haven't had anything 'worthy'!  But will post some of the things that I've done or class has done.  We did the memory game, and are now learning how to make a clamshell box to store them in.  I've scanned in some of my B&W photos and posted them on picasweb.
